Okay, so, I decided to remake a Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag, the medium-sized one. It’s a classic, you know? I started by really getting to know the bag. I looked up a bunch of stuff online, watched some videos, and even went to a store to check out the real deal in person. I wanted to get every detail right.

First things first, I needed the right leather. This bag’s made from Saffiano leather, which has this cool cross-hatch texture. Finding good quality Saffiano was a bit of a task, but I managed. It’s real leather that’s been treated and embossed, different from the usual full-grain leather. It won’t develop that aged look over time, which is fine by me. I spent hours looking and finally found a supplier that had just what I needed. The thickness had to be just right too, not too thick, not too thin.

  • Got the Leather: Checked.
  • Studied the Bag: Double-checked.

Then came the hardware. This bag has these shiny gold-toned pieces, and a little leather keyring. I found some really good quality hardware online after comparing a ton of options. The zippers, the buckles, the little metal feet at the bottom of the bag, I got them all. And oh boy, the logo plaque, that iconic triangle, it had to be perfect. I even got the side snap closures. It’s all about those small details, right?

The dust bag was another thing. I read somewhere that the original Prada dust bags have a label that says “Prada” and “100% Cotton Made in Italy.” So, I made sure to get a similar one. I mean, if you’re going to do it, do it right, am I right?

Putting it all together was like a big puzzle. I cut the leather, piece by piece, following the pattern of the original bag. The stitching, I took my time with that. It’s all hand-stitched, which took forever, but the result was worth it. I added the external zip pockets, the top handles, and the detachable, adjustable shoulder strap.

Almost There

The inside of the bag, I lined it with a nice fabric, similar to what Prada uses. It’s got those inner pockets and the little Prada logo inside. I even managed to remake that tiny “Made in Italy” tag they put inside their bags. It’s those little things that make a difference, I * is really important to do things well and make sure it is keeped well.

When I finally finished, it looked pretty darn close to the real thing. I compared it side by side with pictures and videos of the original, and honestly, I was impressed with myself. I saw someone online selling the original for around 795 dollars, some even going up to 588,000 Indian Rupees! I mean, I just made it for the fun and challenge of it, but it’s cool to think about the value, right?

This whole project, it was a journey. I learned a lot about leather, about bag making, and about Prada, haha. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but seeing the finished product, it’s a pretty awesome * maybe next time, I’ll pick something a little less complicated. Or not. Who knows?
