Well, let’s gab about this YSL Manhattan bag, ya know, the one like them fancy city gals carry.
What’s this YSL Manhattan Bag all about?
I heard some folks callin’ it “Yves Saint Laurent,” sounds all highfalutin, but it’s just a name, like Smith or Jones, just a bit more…Frenchy, I reckon. This fella, Yves, or whatever his name is, he made clothes and bags way back when. They say he was a big deal, made fancy stuff for rich folks. This Manhattan bag, it’s one of them fancy things.
Now, this bag, it ain’t new, ya know? It’s been around a while, got that “classic” look, like them old cars still lookin’ good. They say it’s got that “Manhattan” name ‘cause it’s supposed to look like somethin’ a city woman would carry, all strong and sleek and stuff. They bring it back, remake it, ya know? Like them old songs they sing again, but a little different. They made the old thing new again. Gotta make more money, ain’t it? That’s how them city folks work, always chasing that money.
Different sizes for different folks
This bag, it ain’t just one size fits all, no sir. They got different ones, like small, medium, and I guess a big one too. Little ones for when you just carryin’ your lipstick and whatnot, big ones for when you gotta haul around half the house, like my grandaughter when she go visit her friends.
- Small one: They say it’s ’bout 11 inches wide, 7 inches high, and 2 inches thick. Good for just the essentials.
- Medium one: This one’s a bit bigger, ’bout 12 inches wide, 9 inches high, and almost 5 inches thick. For when you need to carry a bit more junk.
- Big one: This one’s the biggest, ’bout 15 inches wide, 11 inches high, and 6 inches thick. You could probably fit a small dog in there, ha! Just kidding, don’t go puttin’ no dog in your purse!
Why folks like it so much
I hear tell this YSL fella, he was known for makin’ things different. Like, he made a suit for women, a tuxedo they call it. Can you believe it? Women wearin’ men’s clothes! That’s crazy I tell ya, crazy! But folks liked it, ‘cause it was new and bold. This bag, it’s kinda like that, got a strong look to it, not all frilly and girly like some bags. It’s simple, but fancy, like them dresses them actresses wear, ain’t got no fluffs but they still look fancy.
Some special bags, if you got the money
Now, if you got a whole lot of money to spare, they got special Manhattan bags too. Made of some fancy leather, like snake skin or somethin’. They call it “python.” I don’t know why you’d want a bag made of snake skin, seems kinda creepy to me, but rich folks, they got their own ways, I tell ya. And these special ones? They cost more than my whole house, probably! But some folks buy ‘em, say they’re worth a lot of money later on, like gold or somethin’. An investment, they call it. Sounds like gamblin’ to me, but what do I know?
Where to find these bags, if you’re lookin’
Now, you ain’t gonna find these bags at the local market, that’s for sure. You gotta go to them fancy stores, like “Neiman Marcus” I heard someone say. They got all sorts of designer stuff, bags, clothes, shoes…all things I can’t afford and probably wouldn’t wear if I could. You can probably find them online too, on the internet thingy, but be careful, there are lots of fakes out there. Someone might try to sell you a cheap knock-off, pretendin’ it’s the real deal. Gotta watch out for them slicksters, they’re everywhere.
And even I saw on the internet thingy, you can get them fake bags on places like Amazon. But I don’t know why anyone would do that. Carryin’ a fake? That’s like tellin’ the world you can’t afford the real thing. Better to just carry a good, sturdy bag from the store, somethin’ that’ll last, that’s what I say.
Changes at YSL
This company, this YSL, it changed hands a few years back. Some fella named Hedi, he took over, started makin’ all sorts of clothes again, even brought back them super fancy dresses, the ones they call “haute couture.” Sound like “hot culture” to me, haha! But that’s just them Frenchy words again. He keeps makin’ these Manhattan bags too, keepin’ the style alive, and keepin’ the money rollin’ in, I bet.
So, is this YSL Manhattan bag worth it?
Well, that depends on who you ask. If you got money to burn and you like fancy things, then maybe it is. It’s a classic style, they say, and it’ll probably last you a long time, if you take care of it. But if you’re like me, a simple gal who just needs a bag to carry her stuff, well, there are plenty of other bags out there that’ll do the job just fine. No need to spend all your money on somethin’ just cause it’s got a fancy name on it. But hey, to each their own, right? You want to spend your money on a fancy bag, you go right ahead. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when you can’t pay your bills.
