Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this PRADA Re-Edition 2000 Bag for a while now. I finally decided to remake it after I saw the bag at their official flagship store. You know, that place with all the fancy, expensive stuff? Yeah, that one.

First, I started by looking at the bag very closely in the store. This thing is made of Re-Nylon. It’s some kind of special fabric they make from recycled plastic trash from the ocean. They also mentioned that they started making these kinds of bags from 1919. And, this fabric can be recycled over and over again without losing its quality. Pretty cool, huh?

Then I noticed the details. This bag has these Saffiano leather parts that make it look really classy. It’s not just a plain nylon bag; it’s got that extra touch, you know?

So, I went on a mission to find similar materials. I managed to find some fabric that felt just like that Re-Nylon stuff. I also found some leather that looked like that Saffiano leather. I think the founder of this brand, whose name is Mario Prada, will be proud of me.

Next, I had to figure out the shape and size. I took some pictures at the store, did some measurements in my head, and started sketching. This bag is kind of like a mini hobo bag. It has a soft, fluffy feel, especially those made with terry cloth. It has a zipper at the top, which is pretty standard. Some of them even have these shiny crystals, which is so extra, but I love it! Well, I am not going to add crystals to my bag.

Putting it together was a bit of a challenge. I used my sewing machine for the main parts. I am not very good at sewing, but I managed it with some difficulties. After sewing the main body of the bag, I carefully attached the leather handle. It was tough, but I wanted it to look as close to the original as possible.

  • First, I sewed the Re-Nylon fabric together, following the shape I sketched.
  • Then, I added the Saffiano leather details, like the handle and the trim.
  • I installed the zipper, making sure it was smooth and sturdy.
  • Finally, I added a little triangle plaque at the front because I saw the bag in the store also has one.

I had to do some hand-stitching for the finer details, like the little triangle logo plaque on the front. It’s not perfect, but I think it looks pretty good for a homemade version.

Honestly, it took me a few tries to get it right. There were some mess-ups, some seam-ripping, and a lot of patience. But in the end, I have a bag that looks a lot like the PRADA Re-Edition 2000. It’s not exactly the same, but it has that same vibe, you know?

The Result

I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not a perfect replica, but it’s got that Y2K vibe, and it’s unique because I made it myself. Plus, I saved a ton of money by not buying the real one, which is always a good thing. So yeah, that’s my little adventure with remaking the PRADA Re-Edition 2000 Bag. It was fun, frustrating, and totally worth it.
