Hey, guys! Long time no see! Today I’m gonna share with you my little adventure of remaking a Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R-001. Yeah, you heard it right, that classic beauty!
So, first things first, I started by digging up everything I could find about this watch. I browsed through a bunch of websites, like Chrono24 and some forums. There were some for sale, but man, they were pricey! We’re talking about prices ranging from around $29,000 to almost a million yuan! I mean, who has that kind of money just lying around? Not me, that’s for sure. After some digging, I had to find out how I was going to get my hands on one of these, so I decided I was going to do it myself.
Then I got down to the nitty-gritty. I learned that this Gondolo model has an 18k rose gold case, which is super fancy. And the bezel? It’s covered in these shiny gems. It’s got this Art Deco vibe, you know, really classy and all that. They call it a “form” shaped watch, which basically means it’s not your typical round watch. It comes in different shapes like rectangular or tonneau, making it stand out from the crowd. The Gondolo 4962 model in particular, though, is especially popular and well-known in the watch community.
Next, I tried to figure out how to make my own version. I don’t have access to real 18k rose gold, so I had to get creative. I searched for some cheaper materials that look similar. For the case, I found a rose gold-plated case. It’s not the real deal, but it gives off a similar vibe. As for the shiny gems, I opted for some high-quality cubic zirconia. They sparkle just like the real thing, but without the hefty price tag.
Now, the fun part – putting it all together! I ordered all the parts online. I had to make sure that the sizes matched the original, and that took some patience. Once everything arrived, I started assembling the watch. It was like putting together a really complicated puzzle, but way more satisfying. It took some trial and error with the assembly, though. I had to be extra careful not to damage the materials, especially the crystal, which I purchased from a reputable supplier and ensured it was also high-quality.
After hours of work, I finally finished my masterpiece! It wasn’t easy, and my version isn’t a perfect replica, of course. But you know what? It looks pretty darn good! I was so happy that I had finally accomplished what I had set out to do, and could not wait to share it with everyone I knew. I’m no watchmaker, but I managed to create something that captures the essence of the Patek Philippe Gondolo 4962/200R-001. And that’s a win in my book!
So, there you have it, my little project. It was a fun challenge, and I’m pretty proud of the result. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments!
