Alright, so, I got into this whole watch thing a while back, and let me tell you, it’s a deep rabbit hole. Today, I wanna talk about my little experiment with a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface. Yeah, that’s a mouthful, but the watch is a real looker. Now, I’m not made of money, so I didn’t exactly go for the official version. More like a “tribute to the tribute,” if you catch my drift.
It all started in late September. I was browsing around, looking at all sorts of shiny things, when I stumbled upon this one site that sold, shall we say, “inspired” versions of luxury watches. And there it was – the JLC Reverso Tribute Monoface, but not quite. The price was definitely right, though. We’re talking way, way less than the real deal.
So, I thought, “Why not?” I pulled the trigger and ordered one. I mean some folks, they like to buy these fancy watches, not the real ones. I was curious to see what I’d get for the price. A few weeks later, a little package arrived.
Opened it up, and there she was. First impressions? Not bad, not bad at all. It had that classic Reverso look – you know, the rectangular case, the clean lines, that whole Art Deco vibe. This one had a silver dial with blue hands, which looked pretty sharp. And the flipping mechanism, which is kind of the Reverso’s party trick, it worked! Felt solid, too.
- The Size: It’s a decent size, about 40.1mm long and 24.4mm wide. Not too big, not too small. And it’s pretty thin, about 7.56mm. Feels good on the wrist.
- The Movement: Now, this is where things get interesting. The real Reverso Tribute Monoface uses a fancy in-house movement, the Caliber 822. This one? Well, let’s just say it’s not a Caliber 822. It’s a manual wind, though, which is kinda cool. You can see the gears ticking away through the case back. I found it keeps time okay. Not perfect, but hey, it’s good enough.
- The Strap: Came on a leather strap. Nothing special, but it did the job. I ended up swapping it out for a nicer one later on.
I wore the watch for a few weeks, just to see how it held up in daily life. I gotta say I enjoyed wearing it. Got a few compliments, too. People seemed to think it was the real deal. Most of them don’t know jack about watches anyway.
The Big Question: Is it Worth It?
Okay, so here’s the deal. This imitation Reverso, it’s not a Jaeger-LeCoultre. Let’s be real. But, for the price, it’s a fun little watch. If you’re just looking for something that looks like a Reverso and you don’t want to spend a fortune, this is a decent option and the official is too expensive for most of us. It’s like a little taste of the luxury watch world without breaking the bank.
Would I recommend it? Maybe. It depends on what you’re looking for. If you want a real, high-quality timepiece, save up and get the genuine article. But if you just want a cool-looking watch and you’re on a budget, this imitation Reverso might just scratch that itch. To me, the Reverso has always seemed an excellent half of a two watch collection. Just don’t go swimming with it – it’s definitely not waterproof!
That’s my story about diving into the world of imitation watches with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Monoface. It was a fun experiment, and I learned a thing or two along the way. Hope you found it interesting!
