Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with watches for a while now, and you know, the Patek Philippe Nautilus, it’s like, the dream for us watch guys. I’ve always wanted one, especially that 5722 model, it’s just so slick. But, you know, they’re crazy expensive. A mint condition could cost around $52 according to Chrono24. Then I thought, “Screw it, let’s try to remake one myself.”
First thing I did was hit up the internet, trying to find out where to even start. Found out that there are like 10 Patek authorized dealers within a 75-mile radius of Manchester, and some might even lose their dealership, like Berry’s in Victoria Quarter. That’s wild. Then, I stumbled upon this whole world of replica factories. Apparently, there are these places like PPF, PF, and MK that make pretty decent replicas. Some folks online were saying that PPF makes the best Nautilus 5711, especially the blue dial version. There’s also this other factory, 3KF, that’s supposed to be pretty good too.
So, I dug deeper. I found a bunch of forums and groups where people were discussing these replicas, and yeah, it got a bit overwhelming. Everyone had their own opinion on which factory was the best and which trusted dealer to buy from. I mean, I just wanted a good-looking watch, not a headache! I decided to go with the PPF version, just because it seemed to get the most praise.
Find a trusted dealer
Next, I had to find a “trusted dealer” who could source the watch from the factory. This was a whole other can of worms. Lots of shady websites and people promising the world, but you never know who to trust. After a bunch of research, I found a dealer that a lot of people recommended. Seemed legit, had good reviews, so I took the plunge and contacted them.
The dealer was actually pretty helpful. Answered all my questions, sent me pictures of the watch, and even explained the whole process. I paid them, and then the waiting game began. It took a few weeks, but eventually, the watch arrived, and man, I was nervous. I opened the package, and there it was, a PPF Nautilus 5722.
Try to open it
- First, I looked at the overall appearance, it is pretty good, the details, the weight, everything felt pretty spot on.
- Then I put on a pair of gloves and tried to open it.
- I checked the inside and compared it with the original movements on *, well, it is a little bit different.
- Finally, I closed the caseback and tried to adjust the time and date.
Honestly, I was blown away. This thing looked and felt amazing. Of course, it’s not a real Patek, but for the price, it’s insane how good it is. I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks now, and I’ve gotten so many compliments. People can’t believe it’s not the real deal. Even those who knew that it is not a real Patek, they were surprised that it was so close to the real thing.
So, yeah, that’s my story of remaking a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5722. It was a bit of a journey, but totally worth it. I ended up with a killer watch that looks and feels like a million bucks, without actually spending a million bucks. Now, I can flex this beauty on my wrist, and no one’s the wiser. It’s my little secret, and I’m loving it.
