Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again with another crazy project. This time, I decided to go for something really classy: I’m remaking the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001, you know, the one you see on their official flagship store. Sounds nuts, right? But trust me, it was a wild ride from start to finish.

So, first things first, I started by digging up everything I could about this watch. Turns out, this beauty is listed for around $29,802. Yeah, you heard that right. Almost thirty grand for a watch! It’s a rose gold manual wind wristwatch, and let me tell you, it’s a stunner. The reference number is 7041R-001, and it’s got this mechanical manual wind movement, Caliber 215 PS, with a small seconds feature. Plus, it’s decked out with 18 jewels. I mean, we’re talking top-tier luxury here.

Getting into the nitty-gritty, I found out the case is cushion-shaped, made of 18k rose gold, and it’s set with 108 diamonds around the dial. We’re talking about 0.31 carats of bling! This is a ladies’ watch, but honestly, it’s so gorgeous anyone would want to wear it. The Gondolo collection is all about these unique “form” watches, with rectangular or tonneau-shaped cases. It’s a whole different vibe from your usual round watches.

Now, I’m not made of money, so buying the original was out of the question. Instead, I started hunting down for parts that could help me recreate this masterpiece. I scoured online stores, forums, and even some shady back-alley websites (just kidding… mostly). The goal was to find similar materials and movements that wouldn’t bankrupt me but still give that luxurious feel.

  • First up, the case. I managed to find a decent cushion-shaped case that looked pretty close to the original. It wasn’t 18k rose gold, but it had a nice finish that gave off a similar vibe.
  • Next, the movement. This was tricky. I couldn’t get my hands on a Caliber 215 PS, but I found a reliable manual wind movement that would do the job. It wasn’t as fancy, but hey, it ticked!
  • Diamonds. Okay, I’ll admit, I cheaped out here. I got some cubic zirconia that looked pretty sparkly. From a distance, you wouldn’t even know the difference.

Putting it all together was a whole other story. I’m no watchmaker, but I watched a ton of videos and read a bunch of guides. Slowly but surely, I assembled the watch. It wasn’t perfect, there were definitely some hiccups along the way. Some parts didn’t fit perfectly, and I might have accidentally scratched the case a couple of times. But after a lot of trial and error, I finally had something that resembled the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001.

The final product? It’s not an exact replica, but it’s pretty damn close for something I cobbled together in my garage. It’s got the look, the feel, and it even tells time! Sure, it might not be worth thirty grand, but to me, it’s priceless. This whole project taught me a lot about watches, about craftsmanship, and about my own patience (or lack thereof).

So, there you have it. My journey to remake the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001. It was a wild, frustrating, but ultimately rewarding experience. Would I do it again? Maybe. But for now, I’m just going to enjoy wearing my homemade masterpiece. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments!
