Alright, so I wanted to get my hands on one of these CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch things, the one with the see-through back ’cause it looks kinda cool. Here’s how it all went down.
First off, I started diggin’ around online, just to see what these things were all about. I mean, I knew they were popular and all, but I wanted the full scoop. Turns out, these Moonwatches are a pretty big deal. They’ve been to space and all that jazz. The one I wanted, the “Moonwatch,” is like the granddaddy of ’em all, been around forever, and it’s the one the astronauts wore when they walked on the moon. How cool is that?
Finding the Right One
Next, I had to figure out where to actually buy one. Now, there are tons of different Speedmaster models out there, but I had my heart set on the Moonwatch with the transparent back. I read somewhere that some of the newer ones have automatic movements and sapphire crystals, but I wanted the classic, manual-wind version, just like the ones they wore back in the day. It just feels more authentic, you know?
Making Sure It’s Legit
Of course, I didn’t wanna get ripped off, so I did some more research on how to spot a fake. There are a bunch of little details to look out for, like the font on the dial, the way the hands move, and the overall quality of the watch. It’s like a whole world of watch nerd stuff, but it’s important if you don’t wanna end up with some cheap knock-off.
The Purchase
- I finally found a reputable dealer in these parts. I’d heard good things about them, and they had a decent selection of Speedmasters.
- I went down there, tried on a few different models just to get a feel for ’em, and then I saw it – the Moonwatch with the clear back.
- It was love at first sight. I mean, this thing was beautiful.
- The dealer walked me through all the features, showed me how to wind it, and even gave me a bit of a history lesson on the watch.
- I knew I had to have it.
So, I pulled the trigger and bought the darn thing. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, you only live once, right? Plus, I figured it’s a classic piece that’ll probably hold its value pretty well. At least, that’s what I’m tellin’ myself.
Living with the Moonwatch
Now that I’ve had it for a while, I gotta say, I’m really happy with it. It’s a solid watch, feels good on the wrist, and it’s definitely a conversation starter. People notice it, and they’re always askin’ about it. And yeah, it’s pretty cool to be able to say, “Yeah, this is the same watch the astronauts wore on the moon.”
I will say this though, these old watches might just fall apart. If you really want one, keep your eyes peeled, and you might just luck out at one of these shops, but they ain’t cheap. Anyway, that’s my story. Hope you found it helpful, or at least mildly entertaining.
