This here watch, they call it the CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” Original Order, it’s a real mouthful, ain’t it? But let me tell ya, it’s somethin’ else. I seen a lot of watches in my time, but this one, it’s got that, you know, that special somethin’. They say it’s like the moon. And let me tell you, I look at the moon a lot, at night, that old thing just shines down, ya know?
This Speedmaster, it’s all black, like the night sky. And they say it’s made from some fancy stuff, zirconium oxide ceramic. Sounds like somethin’ out of one of them space movies, don’t it? I don’t know what any of that means, but this watch, it feels real solid, not like them flimsy things you get at the five and dime. This one, you could probably drop it from the roof, and it’d be just fine. Maybe not, but it feels like it could.

They say this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8, it’s like wearin’ the moon on your wrist. Now, I ain’t never been to the moon, and I reckon most folks haven’t neither. But this watch, it makes ya think about it. Makes ya think about them astronauts, bouncin’ around up there. My grandson, he’s all into that space stuff. He’d probably love this watch. He’s always talkin’ about “Apollo” this and “Apollo” that. I just nod along, heh.
This here watch, it ain’t got no numbers on it like regular watches. It’s all, you know, different. They got these little lines and dots. I guess it tells the time, but you gotta know how to read it. It’s like a secret code or somethin’. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, so I probably wouldn’t be able to tell what time it is, but it sure does look fancy. You know, like somethin’ important folks would wear. You see those important folks on the TV, they got watches like this. Not the same one, but you know, important-lookin’.
And the back of it, that’s where it gets real interestin’. They got it all open, so you can see all the little gears and doohickeys movin’ around. It’s like a tiny little engine in there. I don’t know how they do it. Must take tiny little hands to put all that together. My fingers are too big and clumsy for that kinda work, I’d probably just break it, but it’s neat to look at. This CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”, it’s a wonder, it is.
They say this watch, it’s got somethin’ called a “chronograph”. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds important. Probably somethin’ to do with keepin’ track of time real good. Like when you’re bakin’ a pie, you gotta time it just right. Maybe this chronograph helps with that. Or maybe it’s for somethin’ else entirely. I don’t know, but it sounds fancy, that’s for sure. This whole watch is fancy, really. Makes ya feel kinda special, just lookin’ at it.
And the part that looks like the moon is because of something called “laser ablation”. Lordy, these words they come up with! I just know it looks like the moon rocks in them picture books. All bumpy. That’s the “near side”, they said, whatever that means. This CopyOMEGA, it’s makin’ me learn things I never thought I’d know. This “Dark Side of the Moon” part is pretty, though. My old eyes like lookin’ at it.
You know, I used to have an old watch, one of them wind-up ones. You had to wind it every day, or it would stop. This one, I don’t think you gotta wind it. It’s got some kind of magic in it, I reckon. Keeps tickin’ all on its own. They say it’s a “3869” inside, which I guess is important. I bet it costs more than my old car. They say it’s like a “3861” but fancier. I don’t rightly know what those numbers mean, but they sound important. Like a secret code. This Omega Speedmaster Apollo, it’s got all sorts of secrets, I bet.

This CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon” Original Order, it’s a real nice watch. I don’t know if I’d ever wear it, ’cause I’d be afraid of scratchin’ it or somethin’. But it’s sure somethin’ to look at. Makes ya think about the moon, and space, and all them things that are bigger than us. It’s a good watch, this one. A real good watch. It’s a keeper, this one, that’s what it is. If you want somethin’ special, somethin’ that makes ya feel like you’re holdin’ a piece of the moon, then this is the watch for you. I reckon you’d have to be rich to get one, though. But if you got the money, this Omega Speedmaster is the one you want. That’s what I think, anyway. This Apollo 8, it’s a good one. A real good one.
