So, I’ve been messing around with watches lately, specifically the OMEGA Planet Ocean 600m/2000ft Classic Style. It’s a pretty sweet timepiece, and I wanted to share my little journey with it.
I started by reading up on it. Apparently, this model came out around 2013, and it’s part of the Seamaster line. I always thought it looked cool, especially since I saw it in some old forum post back in April 12, 2023. That thing is built like a tank, rated for 600 meters underwater, which is way more than I’d ever need. It’s got a GMT function too, which means it can show two time zones at once. That’s kind of handy.
Then, I had to actually get my hands on one. I looked around, checked out some watch forums, and finally found one in decent condition. It wasn’t cheap, but hey, it’s an OMEGA.
When I first got it, I just wore it around to get a feel for it. It’s a bit heavy, but in a good way, you know? Feels solid. The bracelet is really comfortable, and the clasp feels super secure. I also spent some time playing with the bezel. It rotates smoothly and has a nice, satisfying click to it. I actually tested it, and I found it’s useful to track the time.
Playing with Features
- I set the time and date, which was pretty straightforward.
- I played around with the GMT hand, setting it to a different time zone. It’s kind of cool to see both times at a glance.
- I also noticed that the lume on this thing is insane. It glows super bright in the dark, which is a nice touch.
After wearing it for a while, I decided to take it apart. Just kidding! But I did do a lot of close-up inspecting. I looked at the movement through the see-through case back. It’s pretty mesmerizing to watch all those tiny parts moving around. It’s easy to lose track of time just staring at it.
Honestly, this watch is more than just a tool to tell time. It’s like a little piece of engineering art on your wrist. I’m not a professional diver, and I probably won’t be taking this thing 600 meters underwater anytime soon. But just knowing that it can handle that kind of pressure is pretty cool. If you are into watches, especially dive watches, you should definitely check out the OMEGA Planet Ocean 600m. It’s a solid piece.
