Well, well, well, lemme tell ya ’bout this watch, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Gold Black Dial, sounds fancy, ain’t it? Now, I ain’t no expert, but I know what’s good when I see it. This thing, it’s got gold, and who don’t like gold? Shiny, pretty, makes ya feel like a million bucks, even if ya ain’t got two pennies to rub together.
And that black dial, oh, it’s somethin’ else. Dark, like the night sky, but with all sorts of fancy patterns on it, like them “Grande Tapisserie” they talk about. I don’t know what that means, but it sure looks nice. Reminds me of the quilt I made last winter, all them little squares and stitches, took me forever, but it was worth it.

People keep talkin’ about craftsmanship, sayin’ it’s all handmade and whatnot. I can appreciate that, I like things made with care. Like them pies I bake, gotta get the crust just right, the filling not too sweet, not too tart. Takes time, but it’s the only way to do it right. Guess it’s the same with this watch.
They also say it’s expensive. Well, I reckon good things ain’t cheap, and cheap things ain’t good, that’s what my ma always said. If ya want somethin’ nice, ya gotta be willin’ to pay for it. But still, makes ya wonder what makes it so darn pricey. Gold, fancy patterns, I get that, but there’s gotta be more to it, right?
- They got different sizes too, like my shoes. Some small, some big, some in the middle. Guess it depends on what ya like, or what fits ya wrist, I suppose. I ain’t never had a watch that fancy, mine just tells the time, and that’s good enough for me.
And all these complications they talk about, perpetual calendars and whatnot. I don’t need all that fancy stuff, I got my calendar on the wall with the pretty pictures. But some folks, they like that kinda thing, makes ’em feel important, I guess. To each their own, I always say.
But the main thing, they say, is that it’s iconic. Like them movie stars, everyone knows ’em. This watch, it’s like that in the watch world, I guess. People see it and they know it’s somethin’ special. And I can see why, with all that gold and black, it’s a real looker.

It ain’t for everyone, but for them that like the finer things, it’s probably worth a look. Just don’t ask me how to set the calendar, I wouldn’t have a clue.
