Well, lemme tell ya ’bout this watch thing, this Audemars Piglet or somethin’. Sounds like a fancy pig farm, don’t it? But it ain’t, no sirree. It’s watches, expensive ones, for rich folks.
Now, they got this place, Paris, ya know? Fancy city. And they got these watches there, Audemars Piglet watches, but they ain’t cheap. Prix occasion, they call it. Means second hand, used. Still cost more than my old hen house, I betcha.
Then there’s this Le Bon Coin. Some kind of website, I reckon. Like a big ol’ yard sale, but online. People sellin’ their stuff, including these fancy watches. Audemars Piglet, they got ’em there, too.
- But why would you wanna buy a used watch, I ask ya? Ain’t it like buyin’ someone else’s teeth? Just don’t seem right.
- And Tsim Sha Tsui? Sounds like someone sneezin’! But it’s a place, I heard, way over in them foreign lands. They got these watches there too, I guess. Sellin’ ’em everywhere, like hot cakes.
These Audemars Piglet watches, they say they’re made in Switzerland. Where’s that, anyway? Gotta be some fancy place, makin’ fancy watches. Luxury watches, they call ’em. Means expensive, I figure.
Now, I ain’t never seen one of these watches up close. But I seen pictures. All shiny and complicated lookin’. Got gears and springs and all sorts of doodads. Must take a smart fella to make one of them things.
And they say these watches, they’re for showin’ off. You wear one on your wrist, folks know you got money. Like drivin’ a big shiny car. Just ain’t my way, I tell ya. I’d rather have a good pair of work boots.
But I guess, if you got the money to spare, why not? Spend it on whatever tickles your fancy. If it’s a fancy watch, so be it. But me, I’d rather put that money towards somethin’ useful. Like a new roof for the barn.
So, this Audemars Piglet, this fancy watch business, it ain’t for folks like me. But it’s out there, for them who want it. Luxury watches, they call ’em. I just call ’em expensive.
And all them places, Paris, Le Bon Coin, Tsim Sha Tsui… they’re just places where you can find these watches, if you got the money. Me, I’ll stick with my old clock on the wall. Keeps good time, and it don’t cost a fortune.
