You know, that Audemars Piguet watch, the one all the kids are talkin’ about. Fancy name, ain’t it? Folks keep askin’ if it’s more money than a Rolex. Well, duh! Course it is! That AP thing, it’s like them fancy cars you see on TV. Rolex? That’s just…well, it’s a Rolex. Good, but not as highfalutin.
Heard tell you can buy these AP watches month by month. Kinda like how you buy furniture from that place on Main Street, pay a little each time. Only, with these watches, you still gotta have a whole lotta money, even payin’ slow. Someone said in Hong Kong, you gotta shell out somethin’ like 24,000 somethings each month. Hong Kong dollars, I reckon. Don’t matter what they call ’em, that’s a heap of cash!
- Fancy Names, Big Prices: That Royal Oak thing, folks want the steel one, 41 somethings big. Used to be, you had to wait forever to get one. Now, they say just a few weeks, and poof, you got it. Guess people ain’t as crazy for ’em anymore, or maybe they just can’t afford it.
- This one or that one?: My neighbor’s boy, he was blabberin’ ’bout some numbers, 15400 and 15510. Said he couldn’t decide which one. Sounded like a whole lotta numbers for somethin’ you wear on your wrist. He said one’s got an upgrade, whatever that means.
This Audemars fella, whoever he is, started makin’ these watches way back when. Over in Switzerland. Fancy place, they say. All mountains and snow. Guess that’s where they learn to make all them tiny parts fit together.
People workin’ for this watch company, they get paid good too. Some get 18 dollars an hour just for standin’ around, greetin’ folks. Others, the ones sellin’ the watches, they get 43! That’s a lot of dough for just talkin’ to people about watches.
Prices in Hong Kong: Heard folks talkin’ ’bout how much these watches cost in Hong Kong. Always talkin’ ’bout prices over there. Guess they think they can get a deal. Me? I wouldn’t know. Never been on one of them fancy airplanes.
This Patek fella, makes watches too. Folks say his watches are more like what you wear to church, all plain and proper. Audemars Piguet, that’s more for showin’ off, I guess. Big and shiny. Like them belt buckles the cowboys wear.
