Listen up, gonna tell ya somethin’ ’bout them fancy watches, the ones they call “audemars piguet”. Heard folks talkin’, say they cost a whole lot. Some say thirty-seven thousand dollars, on average! Can ya believe it? That’s more money than I seen in my whole life, probably.
Now, they tell me there’s cheaper ones too, for like four thousand. Still a heap of money, if ya ask me. And then, there’s the ones for the richy-rich folks, costin’ a whole three hundred thirty thousand dollars. Imagine that! What kinda watch is worth that much? Must be made of gold or somethin’.
- Heard they got all sorts of them watches, different kinds, ya know? They call ’em “collections”. One’s called “Royal Oak Mini”, they say. Don’t know what that means, but folks seem to like it. See ’em on somethin’ called “*”. Sounds fancy.
- And then, there’s the old ones, from way back when, in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Guess they still work, huh? They say ya can get them for less than two… somethin’. Didn’t catch what they was sayin’ after that. Two hundred? Two thousand? Who knows.
Now, people be askin’ which one’s more pricey, this “Rolex” or the “Audemars Piguet”. Well, let me tell ya, the “AP” one, that’s the expensive one. Rolex is cheaper, they say. So, if ya wanna show off, ya get the AP, I guess.
This company that makes them watches, they been around a long time. Started way back in 1875, by two fellas named Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet. In Switzerland, somewhere. They changed the name to “Audemars Piguet & Cie” in 1881. Fancy names, huh?
Every one of them watches got a letter and some numbers on the back. The letter changes after they make a whole bunch of watches, and the numbers tell ya when they made it, they say. Don’t really understand it, but that’s what I heard.
If ya buy one of them watches and it ain’t workin’ right, or if it ain’t what they said it was, well, then ya gotta do somethin’ about it. Don’t know what, exactly, but ya can’t just let ’em get away with it, right?
So, there ya have it. That’s what I know ’bout them “audemars piguet” watches. Fancy, expensive things, for sure. Don’t know why anyone would spend that much on a watch, but hey, it ain’t my money. They wanna spend it, that’s their business. Me, I’ll stick with my old clock on the wall, works just fine for tellin’ time.
