Well, well, well, look at this, Audemars Piguet. Fancy name, ain’t it? Sounds like somethin’ a rich fella would wear on his wrist. So, you wanna know ’bout this Audemars Piguet, huh? Alright, alright, lemme tell ya what I heard.
They say this Audemars Piguet thing started way back, like 1800 somethin’, by two fellas. Friends, they was. Not one fella’s name, like some folks think. Imagine that! Two fellas startin’ somethin’ together. Like plantin’ seeds and watchin’ ’em grow, I reckon. Only they planted…well, watches, I guess.
Now, these ain’t just any watches, mind you. They’re fancy. Luxury, they call it. Means expensive, ya know. For folks with deep pockets. Not for the likes of us, eh? But still, nice to look at, I suppose. Shiny and all. Like jewelry, but tells time. Handy, if you ask me. Better than lookin’ at the sun and guessin’.
- If you got one of these watches, they say there’s a number on the back. Tiny little thing, prob’ly. Need good eyes to see it. Or one of them magnifyin’ glasses, like the old folks use. That number, it tells you somethin’. Somethin’ ’bout the watch, I bet. Maybe when it was made, who knows.
- And they got these papers, too. Warranty, they call it. Sounds important. Like a promise, I guess. If somethin’ breaks, maybe they fix it. For a price, I bet. Nothin’s free, ya know. Not in this world.
They got this place, a museum or somethin’. In Switzerland, way over there. Where they make these watches, I think. You gotta book in advance, they say. Like makin’ a reservation at a fancy restaurant. Can’t just walk in, no sir. And they talk in English there. Imagine that, English in Switzerland! World’s gettin’ small, ain’t it?
Kids can go too, they say. Learn ’bout watches, I guess. Start ’em young, teach ’em about fancy things. Maybe they’ll grow up and buy one of these Audemars Piguet watches. If they got the money, of course.
They talk French, too. Somethin’ somethin’ “savoir-faire.” Fancy words. Means they know how to make watches, I reckon. Been doin’ it a long time, these folks. Passin’ down the secrets, generation to generation. Like bakin’ a cake, only with tiny gears and springs instead of flour and sugar.
You wanna see where they make ’em, you gotta go to this valley place. Valle de Joux, they call it. Sounds pretty. Mountains and all, prob’ly. Nice place to make watches, I guess. Quiet, away from all the noise.
They got a new museum, too. Fancy buildin’, I bet. Modern, with all the bells and whistles. Show off their watches, tell their story. From way back when to now. Lots of history, I reckon. Like an old book, but with watches instead of words.
And there’s this fella, worked there a long time. CEO, they call him. Big boss, I guess. Ran the show for eight years. Must know a thing or two ’bout watches, that fella. Kept the wheels turnin’, kept the watches tickin’.
So there ya have it. All about this Audemars Piguet. Fancy watches, rich folks stuff. But interestin’, ain’t it? History and all. Makes you think, how two fellas started somethin’ big. From nothin’ to somethin’. Like plantin’ seeds and watchin’ ’em grow. Only they planted watches. Imagine that!
