Ya know, talkin’ ’bout them fancy watches, like that Audemars Piguet thing. People say it’s real good. They started makin’ ’em way back when, long, long ago. Some fella named Jules somethin’ and another fella, Edward somethin’ else, put their heads together in a place called, uh, Vallée de Joux, in Switzerland I think. That was in 1875. A long time before I was even born, let me tell ya.
Now, this Audemars Piguet watch, it ain’t cheap, no siree. They say it’s made real special-like, with all these little parts and things. Folks pay a whole lotta money for ’em. I heard someone say they start at 2, but 2 what? Two dollars? Two chickens? I ain’t got no idea, but it sounds like a lot more than that. More than I’d ever spend on somethin’ to tell the time, that’s for sure.
- People ask if they get more expensive over time. Well, some do, some don’t. Like anythin’ else, I reckon. If it’s somethin’ special, somethin’ hard to find, then maybe it goes up. But if everyone’s got one, maybe not so much.
- Then they ask if it’s more pricey than that Rolex watch. Heck yeah, it is! Rolex is fancy enough, but this Audemars Piguet, that’s a whole other level. Fancy-schmancy, that’s what it is.
They got one watch, see, made by some fella named Gerald. He made it special, with a funny shape – like an octagon, whatever that is. And screws you can see! Imagine that, screws right there in plain sight. Guess that’s what makes it fancy. That was in 1972, a little while back.
So why are they so darn expensive? Well, like I said, they’re made all special, with lots of fancy work. And they don’t make a whole bunch of ’em, see. Keepin’ it exclusive, like. Makes folks want ’em more, I guess.
If you got the money, maybe you’d buy one. Me? I’ll stick with my old clock on the wall. Tells the time just fine, and didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. But those Audemars Piguet watches, they sure are somethin’, gotta give ’em that. Fancy things for fancy folks, I reckon.
