Well, so you wanna know about that Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch, eh? And the price, too? Let me tell ya, it ain’t cheap, that’s for sure. My grandson, he showed me a picture of it on his phone once. Said it’s a real fancy watch, for rich folks.
Now, what’s so special about it? Something about a “perpetual calendar.” Means it knows all the days, you know? February, with its short little month, and the leap years, when they add an extra day. This watch, it remembers all that. Don’t gotta fiddle with it, setting the date all the time. Handy, I guess, if you forget what day it is. I just look at my calendar on the wall, works just fine for me.
Then there’s the gold. They say it’s 18kt gold. That’s good stuff, right? Shiny and pretty. But makes the price go up, way up. My grandson showed me some prices online. Lordy! Saw one for over 200 thousand dollars! That’s more money than I’ll ever see in my lifetime. And another one for 126 dollars? Seems mighty low for something so fancy. Maybe it was a fake, who knows. Them prices online, they can be tricky.
And this “John Mayer” one? Seems like a fella named John Mayer, maybe he’s famous or somethin’, they made a special watch for him. That one’s even more expensive! Something about being “limited,” which means they didn’t make too many of ’em. Makes ’em even more valuable, I reckon.
- Fancy watch
- Lots of gold
- Knows all the dates
- Expensive!
They say these Audemars Piguet watches, they keep their price. Means if you buy one and then wanna sell it later, you can get good money for it. Especially the old ones, the “vintage” ones, like my grandson calls ’em. But you gotta keep ’em in good shape, I suppose. No scratches or dings.
The Royal Oak one, it’s a famous one, apparently. They make a fuss about how it’s made, with all the shiny parts and the brushed parts. Says it takes a real skilled person to put it all together. And they don’t make too many of ’em each year, only 40,000. That’s still a lot of watches, if you ask me, but I guess for fancy watches, it ain’t so many.
So, how much does it cost? Well, seems like it depends. The gold ones are the priciest. And the ones with extra stuff, like that perpetual calendar, and the ones they didn’t make too many of, those are real expensive. Like, more than a house expensive! But I saw some other prices, too, lower ones. Maybe for older ones, or ones that ain’t in such good shape. Hard to say for sure, gotta look around, I guess. Just like when you’re lookin’ for a good deal on a used car.
In the end, it’s just a watch, right? Tells you the time. But I guess for some folks, it’s more than that. It’s a fancy thing, a show-off thing. Something to make you feel special, maybe. Me? I’m happy with my old clock on the wall. It ticks nice and loud, and I can hear it from anywhere in the house. And it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg, that’s for sure.
